Ameon scores for Saracens project

Ameon, contractor

Saracens rugby club has awarded the £2.5 million M&E contract for the £20 million revamp of its stadium in Barnet to Ameon. The planned 10 000-seat stadium will house an athletics track and feature semi-permanent seating areas that will be imported for Saracens’ home fixtures and removed to enable the venue to be used by the wider community and by Shaftsbury Barnet Harriers Athletic Club, which will use the stadium as its home.

Ameon’s contract includes the design and installation of energy-saving renewable-technology systems, including a ground-source heat pump and heating system, which will also act as a preheater for domestic hot water.

The east stand will have a solarPV array to generate sufficient electricity to offset Saracens’ requirement from the National Grid.

Rainwater will be harvested to supply toilets.

Heating and cooling will be provided by a VRF system, and a central AHU will provide fresh air for offices and hospitality areas.

The contract includes a fully integrated life-safety system, including fire-alarm, public address/voice annunciation, CCTV, intruder alarm and door access. All services will be provided to commercial kitchens and extensive internal and external catering facilities on match days.
