Comprehensive control of lighting for this new headquarters building of A. J. Walter Aviation near Gatwick Airport is provided by CP Electronics Vitesse systems.

CP Electronics has supplied its Vitesse Plus and Vitesse Modular lighting-control systems for the new global headquarters and logistics centre of A. J. Walter Aviation near Gatwick Airport. This new building has been constructed using best practice in sustainable building design to achieve a high BREEAM rating.

The site provides over 16 000 m2 of office and storage facilities for Airbus and Boeing components, engines and consumables. Other facilities include a training theatre, on-site catering and restaurant, and outstanding sports and leisure facilities.

The Vitesse systems were specified and installed by WM Building Services of Leicester under contract from the project manager to install all lighting in the HQ building and the warehouse office lighting. Working with WM, CP advised on the best products for each area requiring presence detection — including corridors, offices and toilets.

The Vitesse Plus offers 10 luminaire outputs. The system can be configured into three separate channels if required and installed with little or no commissioning.

A major advantage of the Vitesse Plus system for this project is being able to leave corridor lights on when the main office has finished for the day but cellular offices are still in use. Any movement detection automatically switches on other lights as and when required.
