The first installation of Rehauís chilled-ceiling system is in The Crystal building in London.

Rehauís chilled-ceiling system has been installed in The Crystal Building in Londonís Royal Victoria Dock, the first building in the UK to use this system. The building is a sustainable-cities initiative by Siemens. Two 30 m2 conference rooms in the building, which houses the worldís largest exhibition on the future of sustainable cities, have been fitted with these high-performance chilled-ceiling panels to provide efficient and effective localised cooling.

Suspended ceilings have been installed in these conference rooms, which are not able to use the chilled beams that are installed elsewhere in the 6300 m2 building.

The Rehau ceilings have a cooling capacity of up to 75.5 W/m2. At The Crystal they are linked to the supply of chilled water generated by a reversible ground-source heat pumps with chiller unit attached.

The ceilings were installed by Lorne Steward. Installation was quick and easy thanks to the pre-assembled ceiling element and the predrilled fixing grid.

Four board sizes are available, so it is simple to configure a system to fit the required ceiling space. Pipe tails are connected using Rehau Everloc compression sleeve fittings, which guarantee no leaks.
