Purchasing power acknowledged — Ken James (left), CEO of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, presents a Certificate of Excellence to Luis Correia, CEO of Dalkia Plc.

Dalkia has been recognised for the added value and confidence it brings to customers through the purchasing influences influence it can leverage to deliver office and industrial equipment at lower costs to the end user. The Certificate of Excellence was awarded by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply to this provider of technical facilities services and energy management.

Ian Skeggs, contracting manger at Dalkia, explains, ‘Procurement is an area of facilities management that is often overlooked, and yet it is an area in which potentially significant savings and best practice can be identified. Dalkia’s proven capabilities in this arena means that our customers can be confident that suppliers and sub-contractors are managed effectively as a crucial support component to our business, ensuring we deliver the best possible service via completely audited processes. Potential customers are including questions about procurement performance in the tendering process more and more often.’

CIPS audited Dalkia’s procurement policy, vendor approval and development, online suppliers, company purchase card and correct disposal of obsolete equipment.

Ian Skeggs tells us that in the last five years the Dalkia procurement team has increased five-fold, with a director at board level.
