Heat-recovery chillers introduced by Daikin

Daikin has introduced a heat-recovery series of its EUWA air-cooled water chillers. They have a single screw compressor using R407C and offer cooling capacities from 200 to 350 kW from four models. The range is likely to be increased soon to eight models with capacities from 100 to 550 kW.

A high-efficiency brazed heat exchanger on the condenser side recovers enough energy to produce hot water at 25 to 55°C. The condenser has four inverter-controlled fans and four on/off fans to provide stepless control of condensing pressure.

In cooling mode, cooling efficiency and capacity are optimised by minimising condensing pressure. In heat-recovery mode, the condensing pressure is raised to ensure maximum heat capacity on the heat-recovery condenser by reducing airflow across the air-cooled condenser.

Connections are standard Victaulic joints to absorb vibration, reducing operating noise and thermal deflection. They can accommodate 8° of misalignment.

These chillers can be incorporated into a Daikin integrated chiller network, which enables any four chillers of similar or different capacities to operate as if they are a single unit.
