Suffolk brewer demonstrates environmental responsibility

Not only has brewer and leisure retailer Adnams chosen a disused gravel pit as the site for its new distribution centre, but a wide range of environmental measures are incorporated into its construction. The site is on the outskirts of Southwold in Suffolk. The building has a living roof made of a blanket of sedum plant to create natural insulation, its walls are made from lime and locally grown hemp. Solar panels provide 80% of the hot water needed for the building, and reed beds purify wastewater to protect local wildlife. Rainwater is collected for washing vehicles. Related articles:
