Advancing the technology of VRV air conditioning — Daikin’s VRVIII.

Daikin’s VRVIII heat-recovery VRV air-conditioning system can serve up to 64 indoor units from a single outdoor unit, compared to 40 for a VRVII unit, in increments of 2 hp up to 48 hp.

Outdoor-unit modules can be configured on a combined multi basis from 18 to 48 hp or in a stand-alone version from 8 to 16 hp.

A single outdoor unit can serve indoor units totalling up to double its capacity. Multiple outdoor units can serve indoor units totalling 130 to 160% of their capacity.

Because a single VRVIII outdoor unit has two coils, only one need be defrosted at a time — so heating can be provided continuously. Similarly, the defrosting of multiple outdoor units is managed so that heating is not interrupted.

VRVIII uses 10% less refrigerant than VRVII, and leakage is prevented by using brazed joints in place of flanged before shut-off valves and also by using brazed pressure sensors and electronic gauges instead of sensors and gauge ports.
