As part of the £7.5 million refurbishment of the Harte & Garter Hotel in Windsor, air conditioning is provided by a range of Daikin systems.

As part of the refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed Harte & Garter Hotel in the centre of Windsor, air conditioning is provided by Daikin systems.

New facilities at the hotel include a luxurious boutique spa with treatment rooms and sauna, new and upgraded bedrooms and bathrooms and extensively refitted restaurant and public areas.

The air conditioning was installed by Air Cool Engineering Services of Stevenage and comprises three 2-pipe VRV heat pump and six 3-pipe VRV heat-recovery systems.

Heat-recovery air conditioning is supplied to the bedrooms by floor-standing chassis-type fan-coil units in casings designed to blend with the decor and to the spa and restaurant via ceiling ducted units.

A combination of ceiling cassette and wall-mounted units supplies some of the public areas with heat-recovery air conditioning.

Heat pump air conditioning is generally used for open-plan areas such as the ballroom and meeting rooms, with Sky Air systems serving the bar and private dining rooms.

The internal design temperature is 21°C all year round.

Heat-reclaim ventilation is provided for the kitchen, bar and private dining areas by two Daikin VAM units which reduce the heating and cooling loads on the air conditioning.

All systems are controlled by a Daikin intelligent controller in a office off the reception area and connected to wall-mounted local temperature controllers throughout the hotel.
