Hand-held thermal imager
Published: March 2008
A hand-held infra-red thermal imager that can instantly reveal a wide range of problems in buildings has been launched by Testo. The 880 range is aimed at building managers and inspectors who need to maintain a constant eye on the performance of essential services, facilities and equipment. Typical uses include building inspections, identifying inefficiencies caused by insulation faults, troubleshooting underfloor heating systems and identifying mould-risk areas in walls and ceilings. Heat given off by an object is presented as high-definition thermal images on the unit’s viewing screen. The top-of-the-range 880-3 has a built-in digital camera that can show a normal digital image and its thermal equivalent, which can then be recorded and stored. Up to a thousand images can be stored and downloaded to a computer via a USB connection. Images can be printed as a formatted inspection document using the supplied software. Prices range from £3549 to £7000. For more information on this story, click here: March 08, 171 Related articles: |
