‘Plug-and-play’ solar water heating
Published: April 2008
Ferroli claims plug-and-play simplicity for installing its AquaSolXs solar water-heating system for domestic and smaller commercial installations. The indoor unit includes a twin-coil cylinder, advanced controller, thermostats, drain-back tank and filling device. All that remains is to connect the solar circuit and the sanitary water circuit — and then plugging into a 230 V wall socket. AquaSolXs is available with cylinders of 200 and 300 . Solar energy heats water in the cylinder via the lower heating coil. Extra heat can be provided by a Ferroli Optima HE system boiler using the upper coil. The indoor unit is compact and can be installed in a kitchen or utility room. The integrated pump has its speed/flow controlled by the regulators and optimised for drain back and solar radiation. Information is also available on collector temperature and stored-water temperature. Storage tanks and heat exchangers are of stainless steel and have a minimum life expectancy of 20 to 25 years.
