Electric underfloor heating provides 5-star treatment
Published: July 2008
Raychem electric underfloor heating systems have been installed for comfort heating in the recently opened £8 million spa at The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. Smith electrical, a distributor partner for Tyco Thermal Controls, was commissioned by project electrical contractor HF Ltd to supply the underfloor heating systems and install them under the anti-slip porcelain-ceramic tiling around the vitality pool, across the communal areas, in changing rooms and in 12 of the treatment rooms. Ultra-thin QuickNet power mats were laid in the tile adhesive to achieve maximum heating efficiency with virtually no impact on floor height. For changing rooms, a higher output was specified, so T2Blue heating cables were installed within a levelling compound to match the requirement of this zone.
