Zumtobel delivers energy price promise to ASDA

Published:  19 October, 2008

Natural light flooding into this new ASDA warehouse meets much of the lighting requirement, supported by Zumtobel lighting with Luxmate controls.

The maximum use of daylight supported by lighting from Zumtobel with Luxmate TLM controls in a new warehouse in Doncaster demonstrate ASDA’s commitment to energy saving and minimising carbon emissions.

The design of the 3700 m2 building includes large skylights, while the lighting system, designed by Tate Consulting Engineers, is controlled to ensure that electrical lighting is using only when daylight levels fall.

Sensors on the roof control 3000 luminaires, and the installation is expected to deliver energy savings of around 65% compared to a conventional lighting.

The project is said to be a good demonstration of the principle that light management is not an isolated function but an integral part of a lighting solution. For this project it delivered the significant energy savings required by the client while maintaining good operational lighting levels.
