ABB lives up to expectations in Dickens World

ABB -Dickens World

Helping to meet the lighting requirements of Dickens World are ABB miniature circuit breakers

A £62 million attraction that takes visitors back to the Victorian world of Charles Dickens uses ABB miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) to help light special attractions — such as the Great Expectations boat ride, a Victorian school and the ‘Haunted Man’. Dickens World in Chatham, Kent, relies heavily on lighting packs and dimming packs supplied by Anytronics.

Bob Hall, managing director of Anytronics, explains, ‘The project involves 200 pieces of lighting equipment, controlled by 21 Anytronics Contractor 24- and 12-channel dimming/switching packs, together with a number of CB single-phase wall-mount dimming packs incorporating ABB isolators and single-pole MCBs for channel protection.

Main lighting contractor was Richard Horley of Richard Horley Lighting. He says, ‘I chose Anytronics because they provide a versatile modular package.’

Modularity was important because of the need to change the ratings of the dimmers as the project progressed. Richard Horley explains, ‘Lighting requirements on the various rides and attractions evolved as the project went along, so it was vital I could easily change the rating of the dimmer packs.’

Current ratings of lighting channels needed to be configured close to the order deadline, and with ABB’s service Anytronics was able to complete on time.
