Daikin makes it easier to be green

Daikin being green
Daikin’s Altherma heat-pump systems has featured in the BBC2 programme ‘It’s not easy being green’.

Daikin’s Altherma heat-pump system for space heating and domestic hot water was one of the key technologies in the eco-renovation of a Victorian terraced house in London by Chris Mead and Jay Hayter for the BBC2 programme ‘It’s not easy being green’.

The Altherma air-source heat pump is combined with solar panels integrated into a central control unit which switches from one renewable source of energy to the other automatically and continuously to optimise the use of free renewable energy throughout the year. Other features of Altherma include inverter technology for the compressor and weather compensation as standard.

Chris Mead and Jay Hayter, owners and renovators of the house, commented, ‘After much deliberation, we chose the Altherma over more conventional heating systems, as it enables us to significantly reduce our dependence on fossil fuel (and subsequent price fluctuations) whist being an easy-to-install low-noise solution. The fact that we could integrate it with solar panels to reduce our carbon emissions even further was a real bonus.’
