Oventrop valves take care of heating in new care home

Oventrop Cocon 4-port control valves have been used by Eyre mechanical-services engineers for the new Moorlands Court Extra Care housing scheme at Melbourn in Cambridgeshire to control underfloor heating in communal areas and heating in 35 flats. Each resident has their own self-contained flat with separate bedroom, lounge, kitchen and shower room. Communal facilities include lounges, restaurant and an assisted bathroom. Other rooms can be used for activities such as exercise and providing learning opportunities. The heating system for each flat includes a Cocon 4-port fixed-orifice double-regulating and control valve operating with a time clock and thermostat. The system was designed by MLM consulting engineers of Ipswich, which chose Cocon 4 valves to adjust flow rates and as commissioning aids for hydronic balancing. There are two boiler rooms on the ground floor. One serves underfloor heating and DHW requirements in communal areas. The other serves the flats. Extensive use was made of a wide range of Oventrop valves throughout the project, including T-handled isolating valves in the boiler rooms.
