Great coup for our business — Lisa Wilkinson

T-mac Technologies has received over £190 000 in grant funding to develop its energy-management software. The funding, from the Grant for Business Investment programme of the East Midlands Development Agency, will be used to help the company develop is energy-management systems (t-mac) over the next three years.

The t-mac energy-management system will be expanded to fully incorporate the functions of a building management system and to develop a smaller t-mac (Micro t-mac) unit and wireless sensor technology.

Micro t-mac is being developed for OEMs such as heating, ventilation and air-conditioning suppliers. They are seeing a demand for the remote diagnosis and maintenance of their equipment, once sold, as part of an after-sales routine and as part of an energy-efficiency offering.

Market research by the company and its 5-year presence in the sector show a demand from businesses looking to expand their current energy-management strategies into fully-fledged building-management systems and for a wireless approach for ease and flexibility.

Lisa Wilkinson of t-mac Technologies says, ‘Being awarded this grant is a great coup for our business. Three years’-worth of funding will help us grow our t-mac offering further and ensure that our development continues at a strong pace.

The t-mac system and software can highlight areas for energy improvement that can achieve savings up to 30%. Boiler control can reduce heating bills by 30%, and air-conditioning control can reduce consumption by 40%. The average payback is said to be 12 to 18 months.
