Passivent software interfaces with Tas

Software to help architects and specifiers predict the effect of natural ventilation on a building’s thermal performance is available from Passivent. The company supplies domestic and commercial natural-ventilation solutions and worked with Environmental Design Solutions Ltd (EDSL) to develop the program. Called Passivent Airscoop Builder, it applies to Airscoop roof-mounted ventilation terminals.

The software interfaces with EDSL’s Tas thermal analysis tool for buildings, a dynamic simulation modelling tool that is approved for Building Regulations Approved Document L2 and the Energy Performance Certificate. Airscoop Builder uses ‘real-life’ test data and experimental results to provide an accurate measuring tool.

Airscoop Builder accelerates the assessment process — automatically providing the geometry, construction materials and performance parameters of each selected Airscoop model. There is no need to enter data manually and individually, enabling adjustments to be made quickly and easily to optimise the building’s predicted performance for natural or mixed-mode ventilation strategies.
