Ground-source heat pump helps wins ‘Spirit of ingenuity’ award
Published: January 2010
Renewable-energy specialist Econic was responsible for the design and installation of the ground-source heat pump and underfloor heating system of Laburnum House near Ely, winner of the ‘Spirit of ingenuity’ award for residential project of the year from RIBA East. It was designed by Graeme Lockhart of CMP architects and was also commended for the sustainability section of the awards. The ground-source heat pump was chosen in preference to oil or LPG heating as this well insulated new-build property does not have mains gas.
