MHIE shows it capabilities in Humberside office building

Cooling and heating for a new 2-story office building on Humberside is provided by a three-pipe VRF heat-recovery system using equipment from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Europe and installed by Air Conditioning Economics of Derby. The equipment for the building, which houses the administrative staff of a petrochemical company, was supplied by 3D Air Sales, which also provided commissioning support.

The confined space available for the outdoor units presented no problems for the KX4 units, of which there are four rated at 45 kW and two at 74 kW. Alan Ball, operations manager with ACE comments that the compact footprint of the outdoor KX4 units, combined with their reliability and competitive pricing, made an MHIE system the obvious choice.

The system can provide simultaneous heating and cooling on opposite sides of the building via 127 ducted indoor units in open-plan areas and meeting rooms. The systems are controlled and monitored by the building-management system through a BACnet gateway that converts MHIE’s Superlink communications data to BACnet code. The ducted units have cooling capacities from 4.5 to 14 kW.

Features of the KX4 heat-recovery system include energy-efficient DC inverter compressors and the capability of serving indoor units from 50 to 130% of the capacity of the outdoor units.

ACE is the first installer accredited under the 3D Vision scheme, which provides recognition and additional support for installers of MHIE systems who have made a professional commitment to the product. Scheme members who have undergone the required MHIE product training can expect extended 5-year warranties on a site-by-site basis, warranty labour contributions, privileged offers, training discounts and public recognition.
