Prison installs Honeywell valves for immediate hot water
Published: March 2010
A new prison in Scotland has been fitted with 130 Honeywell Kombi-4 throttle valves to ensure immediate domestic hot water from all outlets. Two Honeywell SV300 fast-acting safety valves are also installed to prevent over-pressure in the booster cold-water system. The valves were specified by SPIE Matthew Hall, the main building-services contractor for the privately run prison for 700 inmates. The Kombi-4 valves provide an economical way to automatically balance hot water, being installed in the returns of the constant hot-water systems. Their thermal disinfection feature is invaluable during anti-legionella procedures when water at over 70°C is flushed through the system.
