Lindab Safe Click ductwork system shows its mettle in office refurbishment
Published: April 2010
To achieve the rapid insulation of ductwork to a high degree of air tightness for a major office refurbishment in the centre of Oxford, Air Quality Services used Lindab spiral ducting with its Safe Click self-locking duct system. Over 900 m of duct has been installed in the ceiling voids to achieve an air tightness of Class C. The ductwork carries conditioned air from roof-mounted air-handling plant and delivers it to the spaces via perforated ceiling diffusers. Alex Gaeta of Air Quality Services, says, ‘Speed was essential for this project, but we were determined not to compromise the air tightness of the system. Lindab Safe Click is quick and easy to install and gives a good seal against air leakage. The fact that it needs no sealing and so few screws also results in a neater finish.’ Recent tests by BSRIA showed that Safe halved installation time and cost 20% less compared to the traditional approach. There were also reductions in air leakage. At a static duct pressure of 500 Pa, the leakage from Lindab Safe ductwork was over 40% less than from a system constructed from traditional components. Independent tests in Germany by TUV Rheinland have shown even better results for the new Safe Click. For more information on this story, click here: April 10, 127 Related articles: |
