Guidance on carbon reduction in public and commercial buildings
Published:  April 2010

M&E Sustainability has published expert advice for clients and building-services-engineering contractors on achieving carbon reduction in large public and commercial organisations. Called ‘Getting the most from the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme’, the guide is designed to help organisations to understand the implications of and prepare for the introduction of the CRC scheme.

The guide provides an overview of the CRC and its scope. It also provides practical advice to contractors, building owners and users on monitoring and reducing energy consumption and achieving commitment from all stakeholders, including staff, to an energy-saving culture.

There are sections on how to review the energy requirements of a building and the introduction of renewable technologies — just one of the seven routes to carbon reduction proposed in the guide.

The document also emphasises the expert role M&E contractors can play in achieving a sustainable built environment.

The guide is available as a free download from the M&E Sustainability web site.
