Lighting to complement the restoration of buildings in the restoration of WW1 aerodrome buildings has been completed by Profile Lighting

Profile Lighting has completed the lighting contract for the workshops of RS Performance, which specialises in designing and developing high-performance engines and producing exclusive cars. These new workshops are part of the restoration of Stow Maries WW1 Aerodrome at Cold Norton Parish near Maldon in Essex.

The aerodrome was abandoned in 1919. Many buildings were adapted over the years for farming use until the site was bought by Steven Wilson and Russell Savory of RS Performance. They embarked on a complete restoration of the site to provide an historic home for their growing specialist automotive business.

Profile’s brief was to provide a well illuminated workshop sympathetic to the buildings and the overall restoration project. The modular M8 lighting system was chosen to provide complementary visual aesthetics when suspended below the existing exposed beams that are a feature of the architecture. The resulting interlocking grid pattern provides excellent light distribution and uses internal cabling to limit the services that need to be run externally.

The Pro-Flite lighting system was employed in two suspended rectangular layouts for front-office areas to provide attractive and effective office lighting.

Both systems have a silver powder finish, high-frequency electronic control gear and integral 3 h maintained emergency-lighting packs.
