New site cabins with up to 40% lower carbon emissions will appear on NG Bailey sites from August as part of a larger campaign to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by 20% by the end of 2012.

Following a 7.7% reduction in its carbon output over the last year, contractor NG Bailey has committed to reduce its carbon footprint by 20% by the end of 2012. In addition to reducing emissions from its national estate, the company will reduce its impact on sites through the development of eco-friendly site cabins, creating the opportunity to reduce emissions by up to 40%. They will be introduced to new sites from August. NG Bailey is also working on halving its waste to landfill, reducing water consumption and using more sustainable methods of construction, such as off-site manufacture.

Cal Bailey, sustainability director, comments, ‘We have set ourselves some challenging targets, but ones we felt necessary to do our bit for the good of the planet. By the very nature of what we do, we help our clients to be more sustainable, so it’s only right that we practise what we preach. A big part of our Target 2010 campaign is encouraging our employees to join us on our carbon-reduction journey. The way we behave where the green agenda is concerned is absolutely crucial.’
