New ASFP ‘Blue book’ is based on European fire standards

Published:  11 January, 2011

The first edition of a European version of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection’s ‘Blue book’ on fire-resisting ductwork is now available. The guide is based on BS EN 13501 Parts 3 and 4, which is wholly based on EN fire tests and classifications. This new guide provides complementary information to the second edition of the guide covering ductwork tested to BS 476 Part 2.

Both documents provide guidance to best practice for the use of ducts in buildings.

The European version has been produced to help those involved in the specification, installation, inspection and verification of fire-resisting ductwork tested to BS EN 1366 Parts 3, 8 or 9 and to ensure that minimum performance standards are maintained that will help ensure the fire compartments are not breached prematurely in the event of a fire.

It can be downloaded free.
