Air curtains find new role in controlling odours

Not only are industrial air curtains from Airbloc keeping waste-management plants warm in Winter and cool in Summer but they are also keeping offensive odours under control. Series AB air curtains have been installed at three locations — the existing Levenseat Waste Management facility in Lanarkshire and two new facilities for Waste 2 Resources on behalf of Global Renewable in Lancashire. At Levenseat Waste Management, which recycles compostable materials, aggregates and household waste, six ABX525 Ambient air curtains from the Industrial AB Series have been installed. They are especially suited to high doors and have been installed at vehicle entrances. The two facilities in Lancashire use a wide range of Industrial AB Series air curtains. Part of a £2 billion PFI between joint-venture partners AMEC and Catylist Lend Lease and Lancashire County Council and Blackpool Council, Global Renewables’ two mechanical biological treatment plants manage Lancashire’s 600 000 t of waste a year sustainably and will divert over 75% of the county’s waste from landfill. Air curtains were specified on all internal and external openings with vehicle access. One of the external entrances is 13 m high to accommodate a lifting crane and is served by vertical Airbloc units. Air curtains are fitted to doors between operational areas and office space to ensure staff are not affected by odours during breaks or working in the control rooms.
