Adams Foods uses CHP to boost green performance

Within the first nine months of operation, a 150 kW(e) CHP unit installed at the Staffordshire factory of dairy-products company Adams Foods has achieved carbon savings of 476 t. The Ener-G system generates 150 kW of electricity and provides 225 kW of heat to pre-heat water for washing and cleaning. This CHP unit was acquired using Ener-G’s capital purchase scheme. Ener-G also provides a Premier maintenance contract that includes all services and call-outs. The factory and office complex at Leek was designed to be the most efficient and environmentally friendly cheese-packing facility in Europe. It occupies 15 500 m2, employs 550 people and operates 24 hours a day. Adams Foods has also implemented a number of other energy-saving measures to reduce costs and carbon emissions.
