NG Bailey apprentice Shane Trevitt (right) was recently invited to Buckingham Palace, where it was announced that he is part of the UK team taking part in WorldSkills London 2011 at ExCel from 5 to 8 October. He will represent the UK in plumbing. He was accompanied by the company’s chief innovation office Martin Bailey to hear the team read out by Skills Minister John Hayes.

A team of 43 will represent the UK, which will compete in 37 skills, including mobile robotics, electrical installations, graphic design, cooling, hairdressing and landscape gardening.

Lee Firth, technical programme manager at NG Bailey’s engineering academy, said, ‘I am so proud of Shane’s achievement. He has put a huge amount of effort into this and deserves all that he has achieved. His success is testament to the level of dedication that all the NG Bailey apprentices give to their training on a day-to-day basis.’
