Local MP for Crawley Henry Smith (centre) formally opens the final stage of the return of Vent-Axia’s return of manufacturing to the UK.

Vent-Axia has completed the return of its manufacturing activity to the UK with the formal opening of three new production lines at its Crawley site by local MP Henry Smith. This latest stage in a 4-year programme of bringing manufacturing back to the UK represents an investment of over £350 000 in tooling for the new assembly lines for the company’s domestic fan ranges, as well as financing building works to incorporate the increased manufacturing.

Much of the production was previously in China, involving long lead times. The new facilities will enable Vent-Axia to advance its service offering to customers. Stock management levels will be improved, aiding stock availability and enabling the company to further help customers with short construction lead times.

The Crawley location will also enable Vent-Axia to easily make on-going design enhancements to products.

Henry Smith, MP, said, ‘I’m delighted that locally based, world-class and innovative company Vent-Axia is expanding manufacturing in the UK. I am proud that this iconic and historic company is creating high-quality products “made in Britain” right here in Crawley.’

The company is also further investing in UK logistics to help lower the embodied energy of products by reducing transport emissions. A reduction in international shipping and flights will result in a saving of 15 t of CO2 a year.
