Consulting engineers Hoare Lea have become the first commercial occupier to move into the 67 acre King’s Cross development in London. The firm has moved its 165-strong London office into some 2000 m2 of space in the Western Transit Shed. The decision to move was prompted by a need for more space and the opportunity to occupy prestigious offices with facilities reflecting the firm’s design-led, sustainable approach to buildings.

The office provides workspace for 165 consulting engineers, support staff and management personnel. It comprises open-plan office space, eight meeting rooms, breakout spaces and kitchen areas — as well as amenities such as showers and cycling facilities.

Hoare Lea provides design services and technical advice in mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering and associated specialist services such as acoustics and fire engineering.. The firm works across all construction sectors nationally and internationally.

Hoare Lea has worked closely with asset manager Argent and is targeting a ‘Gold’ Ska rating for the fit-out of this refurbished building.

Miles Freeman, London managing partner with Hoare Lea, said, We are very enthusiastic about our move to the Western Transit Shed. The new office provides a truly wonderful working environment for our staff and improves the facilities we can offer our clients.

‘Hoare Lea celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2012, and our move marks the start of an exciting new era for the firm. We are confident that the team will continue to grow and build on our success, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our new office.’
