Survey shows sustainability as an opportunity for growth

Focusing on sustainable development will lead to growth in the construction industry, according to 78% of professionals in a survey carried out by CareerStructure. It also showed that 84% of respondents feel qualifications in sustainability improve employability, with 60% already having sought out and gained sustainability qualifications and a further 86% wanting to acquire qualification within their field.

NAPIT, National Association of Professional Inspectors & Testers, sees the findings as a opportunity to instigate growth within the industry. David Cowburn, the association’s director of standards, says, ‘This positive attitude within the industry towards sustainable solutions is a tremendous opportunity to generate some much needed growth in the building industry. Sustainable measures are becoming a more viable option for many people, especially with the Government’s Green Deal initiative and ECO programme. Therefore, a move towards sustainability can only be a positive thing.’

NAPIT operates UKAS-accredited MCS and Green Deal certification schemes for installers working with renewable-energy technologies and energy-efficiency measures.
