Remeha supplies new boilers for award-winning hotel in Bath

Energy-efficient heating and hot water is provided for the Abbey Hotel in Bath by Remeha boilers as part of a complete redesign of the plant room.

The compact dimensions and back-to-back installation design of Remeha’s Gas 201 Eco Pro boilers enabled them to be installed in restricted plant-room space during a 95% occupancy period of the Abbey Hotel in Bath — with no discomfort to guests. As a result, this 18th century Grade 2-listed building expects to achieve 40% energy savings, amounting to up to £10 000 a year.

Four of these 5-section boilers replaced aging heating plant in a complete redesign of the plant room, and Glen Fry of Neptune Building Services in Gloucester was able to configure the plant-room layout to accommodate the new boilers.

The new boilers, calorifiers, new heating circuits and a boosted domestic system achieve a design that guarantees full back up and reliable heat delivery. The old boilers were inefficient and pipework was not insulated.

For the hotel’s owners Ian and Christa Taylor, the heating upgrade was the final stage in a 2-year refurbishment programme that saw the hotel win a number of awards — including the award for leisure and tourism at the Bath Business Awards 2013 and three wins at the 2014 Bath Good Food Awards.

The owners explain, ‘We are naturally keen to offer our guests every comfort and have introduced bespoke luxury Hypnos beds, flat-screen TVs, fast wireless Internet access, DAB radios and REN amenities to bring added comfort to their stay.

‘Now we have added state-of-the-art heating, which not only brings welcome warmth but helps us with our environmental commitment by lowering our carbon footprint and reducing our energy use — not to mention the lower fuel bills that we’re eagerly anticipating.’
