Shouksmith lands health care project in Chester

Building-services company Shouksmith & Sons has been awarded a £2.7 million contract for the design and installation of the M&E package of the Gorse Stacks primary health-care centre in Chester. The health-care centre is the first phase of the development of the Gorse Stacks site. Further phases planned for the future will include offices and 42 residential units.

Features of the current project include a full building-management systems and two plant rooms, one of which will house a CHP unit.

The contract was awarded by Watkin Jones Group and comprises a large reception area, pharmacy, café, waiting areas on all five floors, consulting rooms, treatment rooms and a 3-level underground car park.

This contract follows the handing over to Watkin Jones special-projects division of a student accommodation block in Swansea. The £1.3 million project comprised full M&E design and installation for the 382-room block and included prefabricated bathroom pods and a highly efficient water-booster system.
