Contributing to the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating of the performing-arts centre of Newcastle-under-Lyme College are lighting-control systems from CP Electronics. The Vitesse Plus and Rapid lighting-control system have been installed in the state-of-the-art £5.5 million centre.

Facilities include teaching rooms, dance studios, performing-arts spaces, 200-seat auditorium, music studios with ProTools software and a student cafe.

The Vitesse Plus system was chosen for the advantages it offers the end user. They include multi-channel switching, PIR and switch control, dimming options and, if required, daylight linking.

Lighting plays a major role in a building with so many different activities, so the Rapid system was installed to provide scene setting to ensure that each area receives the required level of illumination. The Rapid system is fully addressable and networkable. It has a simple graphical user interface.

The lighting-control solution was installed by Gilks Electrical.
