Hospital energy-centre refurbishment includes CHP unit

The recently opened refurbished energy centre at Bridlington Hospital was designed and installed by Vital Energi as a £1.24 million project which guarantees over £2.2 million of energy savings and over 10 000 t of CO2 reduction during the 15-year agreement.

The upgrade includes improved boiler control and the installation of a CHP unit to supply all the hospital’s night-time electricity and 50% of day-time electricity. The CHP unit will also make a substantial contribution to the heating and hot-water supply.

The CHP unit is the principal component of the new installation and will help reduce carbon emissions by around 30%.
