Every little helps save energy at Tesco supermarket
Published: February 2006
As part of its continuous drive to save energy, Tesco has incorporated rooflights, Sunpipes and a wind turbine at its new store at Diss in Norfolk. Airtightness services are being provided by BSRIA as part of continuing collaboration for over 13 years to achieve airtightness specifications way below those required by the Building Regulations. BSRIA provides a document specifying the level of airtightness required, recommendations on how to achieve it, outlining unacceptable sealing techniques and strict airtightness testing conditions. Pat Jubb, head of engineering at Tesco, says, ‘Working with BSRIA is helping us in our aim of continually improving the environmental impact of our business as well as cost-based performance.’ |
