Faye Mullins (left) spent 18 months looking for a Modern Apprenticeship in plumbing. Then she contacted SES — and became the company’s first female apprentice plumber. She is pictured here receiving her Trainee Skillcard from Bill Teesdale, project manager at the DEFRA/VLA project — a £10 million project in Weybridge that is providing her first site experience. Christine Wright, SES’s national training manager, says, ‘Faye was really keen and focused on what she wanted to do as here future career. She had even gone as far as already enrolling on a full-time plumbing course at the East Berkshire College. That’s determination you don’t always find. We were very impressed with her attitude and reality about the job.’ During her apprenticeship, she will spend two days a week at college and the rest on site.
