VRV delivers energy-efficient air conditioning for Guildford office development

Guildford
Energy-efficient air conditioning for the Gateway Guildford development is provided by a Daikin heat-recovery R410 VRV system supplied by Space Airconditioning.
To meet the client’s requirement for energy-efficient air conditioning for the 1600 m2 Gateway Guildford office development, a Daikin R410A VRV system has been installed. The project was commissioned by Dungate Property Group and provides the only new office space in Guildford. It is designed to be let as a whole or in suites from about 3000 m2. Geoff Hunt, project manger for J&B Hopkins, explains, ‘This was a fast-track project completed in eight months from first footings. The main contractor, Bluestone of Southampton, asked us to design all the mechanical services, including the air conditioning. ‘The client required air conditioning that was energy efficient, so it was decided to design the system around Daikin’s heat-recovery VRV. ‘Originally it was suggested that extraction fans were installed, but the final design included Daikin heat-recovery ventilation, which further added to the efficiency of the system.’ Space Airconditioning supplied the equipment, which included 36 ceiling void-ducted units connected to four outdoor units. The heat-recovery ventilation comprises 10 units. The entire system is controlled by the Daikin I-Manager, which provides accurate control to minimise energy consumption.
