Hot-water cylinders accept heat from several sources

Storage cylinders for renewable energy and underfloor heating — Chelmer’s Thermostore cylinders also supply hot water at mains pressure.

The Dual Thermostore range of high-performance hot-water cylinders from Chelmer Heating Services can accept inputs from several heat sources and can provide virtually unlimited hot water for domestic use and underfloor heating. These integrated products comprise an insulated copper cylinder encased in plastic-coated steel with a white finish. The sealed system has a primary expansion vessel with safety valve, control valves, thermostats and time clock. There are compression connections for the boiler, underfloor heating and hot-water systems. Three cylinders have capacities of 160, 200 and 280 litres. They can accept energy from solar thermal, cookers and wood-burning stoves. The largest unit can use heat from a ground-source heat pump. Two thermostats control the temperature of the stored water. The temperature in the upper part of the cylinder is at 70°C to generate hot water direct from the mains. The temperature in the lower part of the cylinder is set at 35 to 55°C for underfloor heating and to act as a buffer so that the boiler can operate in condensing mode.
