Designed and installed by County Heating, the heating and hot-water systems utilise two CG high-efficiency wall-hung boilers, one with an output of 58 kW and the other 77 kW. These stainless-steel condensing boilers have pre-mix modulating burners.
Potable hot water is stored in two Clyde SU calorifiers, heavy-gauge steel vessels with a fixed heating coil and glass-enamel coating on the potable side. These calorifiers are linked to an energy-recovery system that extracts heat from the kitchen ventilation system to provide 25 to 30% of the energy needed for water heating.
Sustainable thinking throughout the business of Fifteen Cornwall includes a recycling operation and the use of local produce to reduce the carbon impact of food miles. Rainwater is collected and used for flushing toilets. It is also planned to install wind turbines on the roof to generate electricity.
