Merlin upgrades standby power for Cable & Wireless

merlin
To improve the resilience of its emergency power supply and ensure sufficient reserve generator capacity in the event of equipment failure, Merlin Power Management has engineered and managed a project for the office of Cable & Wireless in Dock Street near the Tower of London. The work involved moving an under-utilised 640 kVA generator set from another London office and synchronising it with two other 640 kVA generators already on site. This involved the design, manufacture and installation of a new 2-way automatic synchronisation and control system to ensure that all three generators would work in parallel. The system was extensively tested at various load combinations, with load shedding and acceptance monitored at all power levels.
