Preparing to become a bigger force in commercial air conditioning worldwide — LG.
LG is planning to boost its research-and-development division by 70% during the coming year and its sales staff by 40% — and is promising a series of launches of environmentally considerate equipment. The company has already developed an innovative combined-heat-and-power system, Hybrid Cogen, and an air-conditioning system that taps into geothermal energy. The gas-fired Cogen uses 32% less energy and reduces carbon-dioxide emissions. The Hybrid XEO air-conditioning system combines an inverter air conditioner with geothermal heat pumps to deliver a renewable-energy solution. It also reduces energy consumption by around 30%. LG expects to achieve sales of £3.5 billion by 2010 The company also predicts that sales of commercial air-conditioning products will increase from 30% of its total sales of air conditioners to 50% by 2010. The company claims to have been the largest manufacturer of residential air conditioners for seven consecutive years and has expanded its market share in commercial air conditioners, thanks to highly energy-efficient technology.
