Of the available micro-renewable energy technologies for homes, ground-source heat pumps arguably offer the most affordable heating and low carbon-dioxide emissions. Calorex doubled the size of its in-house engineering department in 2007 and increased manufacturing capacity by 20% last summer. Its ground-source heat pumps offer outputs up to 12 kW and can generate DHW at up to 65°C without supplementary electric resistance heating.
