Energy Institute reaches agreement to issue Energy Performance Certificates in Scotland
The Energy Institute (EI) has signed a protocol with the Scottish Buildings Standards Agency (SBSA) to recognise suitably qualified members from the EI’s register of energy consultants to be accredited to issue Energy Performance Certificates in Scotland. A similar application has been made to become an accredited scheme with the DCLG for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. As part of the EI’s agreement with SBSA, members must have met the required professional criteria for membership of the EI and have a knowledge of the Scottish building standards regulations and procedures. The contact details of accredited members will be published in a register. Such members will also need to obtain training on the use of the Reduced Standard Assessment procedure and the Simplified Building Energy Models calculation tool or an approved alternative, with respect to the Scottish building standard regulations. They will also be required to identify cost-effective energy improvements.
