Proving the integrity of a voltage indicator

Electrical circuit tested and voltage indicator proved —these testers from Martindale comply with a wide range of safety requirements.
To provide a means of complying with the requirement that a voltage indicator used for checking that an electrical circuit is dead is proved with a proving unit before and after use, Martindale has introduced the VI13700G voltage indicator and associated proving unit. The voltage indicator checks rapidly and safely for the presence of alternating and direct voltages from 50 to 600 V, as required by the Electricity Council Recommendation G9/6. Neon indicators give a clear and immediate display of voltage. The return lead incorporates an HSC fuse, which, together with the retractable test prods, ensure that the unit meets all the GS38, M15/4, HSE, IEC1010 and IEC61234 recommendations. There is instant and clear indication of whether a circuit is live, voltage range and whether AC or DC. The PD690 proving unit is portable and battery powered for testing contact-type voltage detectors up to 690 V. It can also check Drummond and other filament lamps due to its output being sufficient to illuminate the bulb.
