The 4-storey building houses nanotechnology research facilities and associated offices. The Lynx 4-pipe fan coil units are installed in laboratories, meeting rooms and some offices.
There are no false ceilings, so the units are mounted on the underside of the slab. Chilled water is supplied from an absorption chiller which receives heat from the university’s district-heating scheme, supplemented when necessary by a screw-compressor chiller. Additional cooling is provided by fresh air introduced at 8°C, which is recirculated by the fan coils.
