Ductwork software automatically rejects non-standard circular sizes
Published:  August 2008

3D ductwork software that automatically rejects non-standard circular sizes — Lindab’s CADvent.

Lindab’s CADvent is said to be the first software for designing circular ductwork systems that automatically rejects non-standard sizes. This AutoCAD application is designed for Lindab’s huge range, including Vent and Safe self-sealing ductwork products.

The ductwork industry is increasingly concerned about the return to use of non-standard sizes such as 224 and 280 mm, which were declared non-standard in 2001.

This program can also be used to design ductwork systems using rectangular and flat-oval types.

The program can be used from the initial design of a project, through assembly and installation to documentation. Systems can be modelled in 3D and calculations carried out before installation to iron out problems before ductwork arrives on site. Views can also be shown in 2D, perspective and in section.

Ducts can be sized on constant static pressure, maximum friction and air speed or to the 30% method. An entire project can be calculated and accurately priced, based on real component data and system requirements — including airflow, required pressures, sound levels and permissible leakage levels.

Comprehensive support and training is available for CADvent at every stage, including installation and start-up.
