BSS helps hospital to reduce energy costs

Derriford Hospital at Plymouth has reduced its energy bills by an estimated £25 000 a year following the replacement of its heating system. Equipment for the project was supplied by BSS Industrial.

By supplying various pumps, plate heat exchangers, gauges and valves from its own-brand Boss range, BSS Industrial helped reduce the system’s energy output and created an alarm system to monitor legionella.

Phil Smith, industrial account manager with BSS, says, ‘Working in a hospital environment means there are many stringent regulations which must be adhered to, and often the client has certain objectives which require a tailored solution. By working directly with the hospital, we’ve been able to provide an efficient system to monitor and control legionella whilst cutting energy consumption by 5 to 7%. We also have plans to supply a range of controls to maximise the efficiency of the new heating system.’
