CIBSE teams up with SummitSkills to promote industry to learners

CIBSE and SummitSkills have combined forces to promote building-services engineering to schools and colleges and enthuse young people about opportunities in the sector. The two organisations are collaborating in the development and promotion of the building-services engineering ambassadors programme.

CIBSE will encourage members to register as ambassadors under the programme. These ambassadors will inform learners of all ages about what building-services engineers do and their role in managing energy and resources to mitigate climate change. SummitSkills operates the scheme. Induction services and CRB checks are provided by STEMNET (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Network) on behalf of SummitSkills.

Mike Simpson, president of CIBSE, says, ‘CIBSE is delighted to be working with SummitSkills and believes that the industry must work harder to inspire and motivate young people to consider careers in building services.’

Keith Marshall, CEO of SummitSkills, adds, ‘The ambassadors scheme has already demonstrated the career opportunities in the sector to a large number of learners across the UK. With the support of CIBSE members, we can ensure that even more are inspired to take up careers across the full spectrum, from operative to management, and steer the future of building-services engineering.’
