Training initiative of the year

Among courses run at Nu-Heat’s training centre is one on underfloor heating.

Exploiting renewable energy to its full potential requires installers to be adequately trained, a need that is acknowledged by the award for training initiative of the year. The first course in the UK relating to the installation of ground- and air-source heat pumps to be approved by UKAS was developed by Nu-Heat and training provider NICEIC and is presented at Nu-Heat’s training centre. The course forms part of the mandatory training for installers wishing to gain certification for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

Nu-Heat’s training centre, which won the award for training initiative of the year, also runs installation courses in underfloor heating and solar thermal. It also provides courses leading to qualifications in energy efficiency, the 1999 Water Regulations and unvented hot water G3.

The courses developed by Nu-Heat are now being rolled out to other NICEIC centres, widening the national installer base.
